Little Apple A-Frame is an original kit home built in 1959 and dubbed The Star on the Rim by the Maitre’d at the famed Brown Derby in Hollywood, CA. The home was his weekend getaway for over 20 years, then sold to a family that resided there full time for 20 years… and left abandoned for the next 20 years. The family prepped the house to sell with a dark, contemporary remodel that didn’t match the era or style of this classic double A-frame. We started our work by removing an attic addition in the primary bedroom, revealing the original “A” and flooding the space with light. We gutted the kitchen and bathroom and pulled up the flooring throughout the house. Being on a tight budget, we opted for an Ikea kitchen and bath vanity with custom fronts and luxury vinyl flooring. Our splurges were on appliances, the beautiful Emser and Walker-Zanger tile, lighting and a few of the furnishings.
